Traverse City Officer Michael Peters was put on a paid leave after he was spotted driving near a 'Love Trumps Hate' rally in the city with the Confederate flag attached to the rear of his truck, where he cracked open a beer and drew a confrontation from a black rallygoer.
Marshall Collins Jr. raised a fist in the air as the truck circled the event and moments later parked in a restricted area, the owner with a Bud Light in hand confronted the crowd.
Peters denied the flag's history is steeped in racism and division: "It means a lot to people like me, it means hatred." Pretty much the same things, aren't they?
Traverse City police Chief Jeff O'Brien announced that Peters was suspended and placed under investigation.
