Scott Michael Greene was arrested after he ambushed and killed two police officers in Iowa Wednesday.
The slain officers have been identified as Urbandale Police Officer Justin Martin and Des Moines Sergeant Anthony “Tony” Beminio.
Prior to the killings, a video surfaced online of Greene arguing with local cops after he brought a Confederate flag to a high school sports game, reports News One.
Now Greene is in the police custody and under an investigation.
What was left unanswered is: why and how did the police manage to de-escalate the conflict and not to kill Greene immediately? Their two fellow officers were murdered mercilessly and then Greene was carefully dispatched to the custody. Isn't that a glaring example of bias and moral hypocrisy? Aren't our brothers and sisters slaughtered while the real killers are just arrested?
They say that Greene was mentally unstable and that his depression might have caused this outcome. But Deborah Danner, who was killed when she called for help, also was struggling with a mental illness. Was Alfred Olango's life spared by those meant to protect? And they were not armed or dangerous.
We must remember their names. We must not stop protesting until black people are treated equally and respectfully. We are the ones who can change our destiny.
